2008 "Music in Our Lives" Concert

Our 2008 Music in Our Lives Concert will be on Sunday, June 29th, 2008 at the gorgeous Ganz Hall at Roosevelt University (430 S. Michigan Ave. 7th Floor, Chicago, IL 60605).

Concert Timeline will be as follow:
12:00 - 1:00: Student stage rehearsal; Parents Forum at the Ganz Lounge
1:00 - 2:15: Concert Part I, Scale Race
2:15 - 3:00: Intermission (snacks and drinks)
3:00 - 4:30: Concert Part II, Awards, Group Pictures
 
This Music in Our Lives Concert is to encourage kids to relate music playing to their daily lives -- play something to say something. Most students understand the necessity of practicing their instrument in a room alone. However, it is important for them to realize that music is an expression through which they get to communicate to people around them in various occasions. Your child's AET teachers will help them to prepare their performance pieces as well as to explore daily scenarios where they get to play those pieces.
 
Each student will fill out a card, saying "My name is _____. I'd like to play _____. I can this song when ______." They can either read their card on stage or have our MC to announce it for them before their performance.
 
AET Music for Children hosts two concerts every year. We believe regular performances are a great way to teach kids:
    - playing better quality songs
    - practicing their instruments more
    - building their skills to be confident/focused at spotlight
    - appreciating music through other kids' performances
    - most of all, sharing their music with others
 
A Recital Sponsorship ($30/student) fee will be added on your June invoice to support partial expenses on:
- Stage rehearsal & performance
- DVD for the Recital - Award trophy w/ student name engraved on marble base
- Seats for parents and unlimited guests
- Food/drinks for reception
- Group photo and online gallery -

FAQs about the Concerts

1. My son has a soccar game on the Saturday morning. Can he perform in the Afternoon Concert?
Yes. If you have a preference for the morning or afternoon concert, please let us know by emailing info@aetmusic.org.

2. My daughter has only started piano lessons a month ago. Will she be on the concert?
Usually, her AET teacher should be able to get her ready for a simple song. We encourage all beginers to perform. If they can't perform, it will benefit her to see one of the two concerts on June 9th.
